    Ford:
You're looking for the Ultimate Question.

    Zaphod:
    Yep.

    Ford:
    You.

    Zaphod:
    Me.

    Ford:
    Why?

    Zaphod:
No, I tried that: Why? 42. Doesn't work.

    Arthur Dent
    :
Just wait a sodding minute! You want a question that goes with the
answer for 42? Well, how about what's six times seven? Or how many
Vogons does it take to change a lightbulb? Here's one! How many roads
    must a man walk down?

    Lunkwill:
    Hey, that's not bad!

    Arthur Dent:
Fine. Fine, take it. Because my head is filled with questions and I can
assure you no answer to any one of them has ever brought me one iota of
happiness. Except for one. The one. The only question I've ever wanted
an answer to - is she the one? The answer bloody well isn't forty-two,
it's yes. Undoubtedly, unequivocally, unabashadly yes. And for one
week, one week in my sad little blip of an existence, it made me happy.

    Trillian:
    That's a good answer...

    Lunkwill:
Rubbish, we don't want to be happy, we want to be famous!

    Fook:
Yeah! What is all this "is she the one" tripe?

from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

    I hit 42 today.

My dad was 42 when he died of a heart attack. I was one month short of 17.

Outliving my dad is all that matters now.

I'm making plans to go to Croatia this December to meet her. More details as they come together.

    Please pray for me....

    Amen

    The Book:
The Encyclopedia Galactica, in its chapter on Love states that it is
far too complicated to define. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has
this to say on the subject of love: Avoid, if at all possible.

See you on the flip side....

  • Wow... Birthday prayers, blessings & (((Hugs!)))

  • Hehe!  My hubby loves that book and we have yet to see the movie.  Just wondering: did you ever--by a remote chance--read Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins?

  • One of my favorites...Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.  I need to re-read.  It has been too long.

    Happy birthday my friend

  • Hahaha. This post brought many nostalgic giggles.

Happy 42nd, Jim. I still think you're about twenty or so years wiser than that.

  • Happy Birthday!!  I'm a year and three weeks behind you...I've found that the older I get the better life is!! I cannot wait to see what 41 brings....going from Korea to Croatia??  How interesting...Good Luck .. Blessings and happy thoughts for you today....'Til The Next

  • I love Hitchhiker's Guide. Very nice post, by the way. 42? Happy Birthday! And thank you for the information, RYC. We may not agree on specific dates and facts, but we both know that Jesus existed and he was a fisher of men. I agree about the zodiacal signs. The two ages before the Pisces were Taurus and Aries. And the two symbol we find in the bible? The bull, and the ram.

I didn't realise you were still corresponding with the Russian girl. Good for you, and I hope your planned trip to Croatia works out.

Bless you, Jim! And Happy Birthday!

    Allison

  • We share a birthday????? Wow. That's kind of cool.
