Sex Education
For years there has been this arguement about whether or not sex education should be taught in classrooms. Is public education the right forum for teaching children about these things? It was a matter of time before the idea of schools handing out condoms became a hotbed issue that some parents are still outraged over.
The outrage continues. Check these stories out.

And I found all of this out in a matter of minutes. What has become of our schools? Is this the end result of billions of taxpayer dollars being spent so that No Child Will Be Left Behind?
I want my money back.

I was concerned from the onset of that bureaucratic NCLB campaign... don't even get me started. It's one of the reasons we homeschooled. No students in our homeschool were left behind either, heh. Oh, Happy Easter, btw ~ Jesus is alive!
America is getting more and more fundamentalist which drives the non-fundamentalists further and further in the opposite direction. There can be no innocence in the age of AIDS. Life is more important than perceptions of behaviour.
All I can say to this issue is that I'd rather have my son/daughter have access to a condom than have to tell me they are going to die from AIDS.
Followed and read every link. Sad world we are living in. Adults are responsible for less than adequate upbringing and fighting the environment filled with people who haven't been brought up holding onto good moral teachings is tough. I don't know what the answer is but things won't get better unless everyone wants it that way, fighting for environmental improvements for children in movies, books, magazines, computer games, clothing etc. The offer for sexually explicet goings on is all around us and it's hard for a child with any intelligence to miss seeing it and to be curious. The world turns on sex as nothing exists without it. The only answer I see is better teaching at home and allow people to help watch what is going on in neighborhoods as they did when I was a kid and to make sure anyone proved of a crime hurts real bad with the punishments. Unless you hurt bad, you have no qualms about repeat offences. It will take generations to get past what we have now as it took generations to get us to this point. Sexually offense has always been with us. The capabilities for the quick and explicit reporting of it from all over the globe makes us much more aware of it. I count it as wrong in all cases of an adult luring or using a child. I would love to see things improve. I think though that what we want and what we get in improvements is a long way off. Condoms?? I have to say that if sex is going to happen I would like to see condoms used. It is another area where too many don't really care. If they did, we wouldn't have such an advanced epedemic of AIDS related illness.
I've lost all faith in our schools.
Faith
Hey there! I thought I'd see what you were up too... have not seen you in awhile!
Haha...I'm not exactly how handing out condoms to kids is going to help educate them lol.
