  • As If Nothing Has Changed

    Cut the candle
    halve it with your words
like they do in the movies

    Rapier smooth
    the blade cuts through wax
    but the candle is unmoved

    touched
    but not flinching

    cut
    but not bleeding

    the flame burns
    as if nothing has changed

    Something has changed
    but not the love
    that cuts me tonight

    touch me
    I will not flinch

    cut me
    I will not bleed

    let me burn
    as if nothing has changed

  • This piece touches something deep inside the core of what it is to be human and real...well done!

  • very nice jim

  • It would be nice if that's how things worked- if you really *could* be touched and not flinch, or be cut and not bleed. The only way that can ever happen is if you numb yourself to life.

Also, changing the subject a little- this is, in fact, the same Andrea as you spoke of so frequently not very long ago, right? If so... just... I don't know really what to say. I'm sorry for both of you.

  • It sounds good but we both know, "change is inevitable".  We can do things to keep our own lives more even but it takes work as the outside world works at crushing us and what we want for ourselves.  Hoping you get on top of that cold and tired feeling.  I can tell you to sleep warm, include in your blankets something of satin, a satin sheet or comforter.  You need to place the blankets so you sleep between them like a sleeping bag and the satin needs to be next to your skin.  I promise you it will help.  Trust me.

Hoping you have a Merry Christmas Jim.  I know it's a long way from home but with your faith, you know home is right there in your heart.  Love and hugs,
