January 24, 2006

  • October 24, 2005 was just yesterday. In the last three months I have:

    * had kimchi, kimbob, bebimbop, and some other strange food
    * taught four adult classes in conversational English
    * learned my way around one of the largest cities in the world
    * found out why one of my closest friends in the world is no longer living with her husband
    * spoken to the same friend on the telephone...
    * been reconciled to a friend I haven't heard from in over three years
    * celebrated three American holidays, and am preparing to celebrate my first local national holiday - Chinese New Year is coming this weekend
    * set a new record for having a cold - six weeks and still counting
    * shopped Itaewon
    * walked Insa-Dong
    * haunted Jonggak most weekends
    * read Korean poetry (English translations)
    * visited an Asian palace (as spectacular as you see them in the movies)
    * walked and photographed the streets of Seoul
    * walked Cheogyecheon
    * gotten lost on the metro (once)
    * had a number of dreams come to pass
    * photographed the Han River

    I could go on, but it's late. I need to get up early, I have papers grade and attendance records to process before midterm.

    This has been the fastest three months I have ever experienced.

    Somewhere out in America, it's starting to rain
    Could you tell me the things you remember about me
    And have you seen me lately?

    outside it's America

  • You've been busy! Great pics, as always!

  • I dont wanna sound like a mom or a cna, & im truly both, but you should really see someone about that cough.. if you havent. 10-24 was my daughters bday.its been a little busy for us too.... hope you feel better soon....

    if you smoke tho that could be why it is lasting so long *the cough*

  • Some amazing photos here, Jim.  From what I have seen, it seems there are a lot of twin towers around the world.

    I have eaten a few of the foods you have mentioned, John and I really like oriental food and, I remember that the three of us ate at an Oriental restaurant so I imagine you are finding food to enjoy.

    I understand about needing to get away from words etc.  When you life your work sometimes you just need some earphones leading to some good classical music.

    Take care of you.  A year will be gone in no time.  My daughter and grand daughter are home as of this morning in Virginia.  They have been living in Spain for the past 3 years.  Now they get to re-acclimate to the states.  I'm glad they are home safe.

    Have a super week,

  • Zinc! You need zinc. Cold-eze zinc lozenges, some kind of zinc ointment to slather in your nostrils. And anti-biotic ointment, neosporin or something like that, shove some of that up you nose, too. Like on a q-tip. Shove it all the way in, but make sure the cotton is securely attached, and keep a tweezer handy in case you lose your grip. I lost one once, and had to fish it out.
    This stuff really helps a cold, though.

  • Wow, I wish I was productive as you are in 3 months! Damn!

    I hope you have fun on Chinese New Year...it's usually a pretty big thing, I've been told.

    Take care of yourself and your cold!

  • looks awful cold there >_< bundle up!

  • Love that water pic.
